FY 2008 State Energy Program Funding Opportunity Announcement

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), through the Office of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program (OWIP), recently announced a competitive grant Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeking innovative state programs designed to foster energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, practices, technologies and programs.

On June 4, 2008, the FOA DE-PS26-08NT00319 entitled "Fiscal Year 2008 State Energy Program Competitive Activities" was released on the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Industry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS).

Applications should be submitted under one of the following Areas of Interest (AOI):

DE-PS26-08NT00319-01 Area of Interest 1 - Advanced Building Energy Codes
DE-PS26-08NT00319-02 Area of Interest 2 - Utility-Scale Clean Energy Capacity

Under the Advanced Building Energy Codes AOI, States are encouraged to submit applications that develop and implement a plan to upgrade, implement and enforce building codes that are a 30% improvement over ASHRAE 90.1-2004 and/or the 2006 IECC. The DOE is not requiring States to develop their own building energy codes but is soliciting applications for states to be an early adopter and implementer of the advanced building proposals and design guides that are currently being considered by the ASHRAE and International Code Council (ICC) model energy code committees.

The application due date is July 10, 2008

The Contract Specialist for this FOA is Sue Miltenberger, who can be reached at 304-285-4083 or susan.miltenberger@netl.doe.gov.
