Advanced Energy Design Guides
ASHRAE released the following press release on November 18, 2009:
Advanced Energy Design Guides (AEDG) are also available for Small Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities, Small Office Buildings, Small Retail Buildings, K-12 School Buildings, Small Warehouses and Self-Storage Buildings, and Highway Lodging, and are available online from ASHRAE. These guides, intended as companion "above code" documents for ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999, demonstrate how these buildings may be built 30% more energy efficient than the standard. ASHRAE is also working on an additional guide for warehouses.
The AEDG guides have been developed through the collaboration of ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), with support from the Department of Energy (DOE), to help meet all of an owner's energy performance requirements. In an effort to promote building energy efficiency, ASHRAE and its partners have made these guides available for download (PDF) at no charge.
The Advanced Energy Design Guide series provides recommendations for achieving 30% energy savings over Standard 90.1-1999.The series is available to download free of charge, at www.ashrae.org/freeaedg.
BECP has prepared a series of articles that contain may of the recommendations that have been adapted from the implementation section of the AEDG for Small Office Buildings, and has made them available in the BECP Resource Center.
