Known Problems

REScheck™ Version 4.1.3 MAC Release 2

Problem: The high-efficiency equipment tradeoff portion of the 2006 IECC has been restricted until a MAC compatible performance evaluation engine is incorporated.

Solution: Use the Windows based version of REScheck 4.1.3 or REScheck-Web.

REScheck™ Version 3.6 Release 2

Problem: When a line of text is entered into Description, Designer/Contractor, or Notes on the Project tab, such that it is longer than the width of the input box, the Date of Plans and Title text input boxes will shrink in height such that the text is unreadable.

Solution: To work around the problem, shorten up the long text lines in the Description, Designer/Contracter, or Notes input boxes and/or widen the REScheck window display until all text re-displays completely. When all text lines fit within the input boxes, the Date of Plans and Title input boxes will be resized to their normal height. Note that if the Date of Plans and Title input boxes are in a reduced size display any text previously entered in these inputs will still exist and be correctly processed in reports.

REScheck™ Version 3.6 Release 1

Problem 1: When REScheck is opened by double-clicking a REScheck data file (i.e., .rck), the default file path associated with the case file is not set such that if any data is changed and saved using the "Save" menu or toolbar button, a file will be created and saved to the REScheck application folder instead of in the folder the case file was opened from.

Solution 1: When REScheck is opened by double-clicking a REScheck data file (i.e., .rck), use the "Save As..." menu and reselect the case file folder in the Save As... dialog.

Problem 2: When the desired REScheck printer is not the default printer, the application may "hang" even after the desired printer has been selected in the Print dialog. This problem only occurs on certain albeit unknown systems.

Solution 2a: Before printing select the "Page Setup..." menu option and select the desired printer. Next, select "Print reports..." and reselect the desired printer in the Print dialog a second time.

Solution 2b: Use the "Save Report..." menu option to save the report to a file. The file can then be printed using any word processor.

REScheck™ Version 3.5 Release 1e

Problem: Insulated Concrete Form crawl wall assemblies: Insulation Depth not correctly specified. When specifying an ICF crawl wall the insulation depth should automatically be set equal to the height of the wall. The defaulting of insulation depth is not currently working if wall height is changed in the envelope grid or if editing wall height in the crawl wall dialog screen and exiting the dialog screen using a mouse-click on the OK button.

Solution: Display the crawl wall dialog screen, enter the wall height then hit the keyboard ENTER key. Alternatively, enter the wall height, depth below grade for the outside and inside dimensions in the envelope grid. Next, click on the arrow to the right of the assembly and change the assembly type to one of the other assemblies listed in the drop down box and then change the assembly back again to the ICF. This will refresh the program to include the correct depth of insulation.

REScheck™ Version 3.5 Release 1d

Problem: The following cities in Texas should have Heating Degree Days (HDD) of 2843 rather than 2433:

Allen, Anna, Fairview (Collin), Frisco, Lowry Crossing, Lucas (Collin), McKinney, Melissa, New Hope (Collin), Parker (Collin), Plano, Princeton, Prosper, Westminster, Weston.

Solution: The next software update (scheduled for September 2003) will contain the correct HDD for the above locations. In the mean time, please contact technical support for the updated weather data file.

REScheck Version 3.5 Release 1d

Problem: When the SHGC requirement is not met for the project, the compliance report shows a project as failing (% worse than code) even if the overall proposed UA is lower than the maximum UA (the report should show % better than code UA). The project displays correctly in the software but not on the compliance report.

Solution: This has been corrected for the next software release, scheduled for September 2003.

REScheck Version 3.5 Release 1, 1a, 1b, 1c

Problem: When opening an existing data file that has a heat pump with cooling efficiency (SEER) value higher than the default value in the mechanical section, the saved value changes back to the default value.

Solution: Please re-enter the SEER values after opening the file. This is required only for heat pumps.

REScheck Version 3.5 Release 1a, 1b

Problem: If you have SHGC compliance requirements in your case and have specified "Front faces" (i.e., building orientation) to be anything other than "South", saving using "Save As..." and/or returning from "Print/Print preview", causes "Front faces" to incorrectly return to "South".

Solution: As a workaround, re-select the "Front faces" input just before creating your final printed reports.

AreaCalc 2.2 Release 1

Transferring data to REScheck.

Problem 1: If AreaCalc is not opened within REScheck, when transferring data that has more than 18 assembly types in one assembly category (i.e. walls), some of the data will not transfer over.

Solution 1: Open AreaCalc through the Tools Menu in REScheck 3.5 Release 1a.

Problem 2: When transferring data into REScheck, if the data contains several data categories (i.e. ceilings, walls, windows, doors, floors) one or more of these assemblies is not visible in the REScheck envelope folder.

Solution 2: After transferring the data to REScheck, go to "Save as" in REScheck and save the project. This will force the grid to refresh and will display any missing assemblies. If they are still missing, refer to Problem 1.

REScheck Version 3.5 Release 1a

Problem: Unhandled Exception When Printing.

On Windows 98 First Edition while printing compliance reports to some Hewlett Packard Printers, an error occurs which causes the software to terminate. The problem is very specific to the Windows 98 First Edition, with some of the Office 2000 components installed, and some HP printer drivers. The following drivers are known to produce this problem: HP LaserJet 4050, HP LaserJet 8000, and HP LaserJet 8150 DN.

Solution: The Postscript version of any of these drivers can be installed instead of the PCL driver, or in addition to the PCL driver. The Postscript driver does not produce this problem. If you need assistance locating or installing the correct Postscript driver, contact our technical support staff. If you prefer, you can also save your reports to a file and then bring them into Word or any other text processor that supports rtf files. You may, however, have the same problems if you try to bring the report into WordPad.
