Prescriptive Approach - Residential

The prescriptive approach allows you to select from various combinations of energy conservation measures (called packages) based on your climate zone location.

Prescriptive packages and climate zone maps are available for the following codes:

1992 Model Energy Code (MEC)
1993 Model Energy Code (MEC)
1995 Model Energy Code (MEC)
1998, 2000, & 2003 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)

Prescriptive package field guides (tri-folds) are also available for the 1998/2000 IECC. These guides (one for each climate zone) provide a single page summary of the envelope requirements (insulation R-values and glazing U-factors).
