Areas for Air Leakage

This is the back side of an electrical box showing caulking where the wires penetrate the box. Note that most electrical boxes are inherently leaky even without wires penetrating the box. Care should be taken to seal the unused "knock-outs" and other openings.
Here is a typical electrical box after the drywall has been installed. It is common practice to use a drywall router to "trace" the box. Note the size of the gap around the box. Significant air leakage will occur if it's not properly sealed.
This is the completed electrical box. Note that the box has been caulked to the drywall.
Expanding foam has been used to "fill" the hole left by installation of the bathtub plumbing.
