This spreadsheet contains detailed end use data results from the Progress Indicator analysis of ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2022 conducted by PNNL.

This application guide includes general information about the energy credit requirements in Standard 90.1-2022. Example packages are shown for hot, moderate, and cold climates demonstrating nine alternative ways to meet the energy credit requirements for each building use type. There is also a general description of the energy credit measures, including how they save energy or reduce electric grid costs, and their applicability. The actual code language, credit requirements, and available credits by measure can be found in Standard 90.1-2022.

Total System Performance Ratio (TSPR) is a metric for evaluating overall system efficiency instead of individual component efficiency, a solution that could also eventually facilitate the transition to a 100% performance-based code structure. TSPR is a ratio that compares the annual heating and cooling load of a building to the annual energy consumed by the building's HVAC system. This technical documentation provides background on the TSPR and support for the mechanical performance factors that are developed each 90.1 edition cycle to be used in the calculation. The current factors are developed for the 2022 edition of 90.1 in combination with addendum AG.

The purpose of this analysis is to examine the cost-effectiveness of the 2019 edition of ANSI/ASHRAE/IES2 Standard 90.1(ANSI/ASHRAE/IES 2019). PNNL analyzed the cost-effectiveness of changes in Standard 90.1-2019, compared to the previous 90.1-2016 edition, as applied in commercial buildings across the United States.

This document provides recommendations for organizing effective and efficient submittal reviews of projects that follow ASHRAE 90.1 Section 11 and Appendix G.

This document outlines resources to help facilitate compliance documentation and submittal reviews.

The Submittal Reviewer is a professional responsible for reviewing the compliance documentation on behalf of the authority having jurisdiction or rating authority for projects following ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Section 11 and Appendix G. This document outlines the Submittal Reviewer responsibilities.

The Energy Modeler is a professional responsible for performing energy modeling and facilitating completion of the DOE/PNNL ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Performance Based Compliance Form on projects following ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Section 11 and Appendix G. This document outlines the Energy Modeler responsibilities.

The Standing Standards Project Committee (SSPC) for ASHRAE Standard 90.1 established a working group to develop an energy credits proposal.  The package of measures proposed for ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2022 includes 32 energy efficiency, renewable energy, and load management measures available. This technical document provides the general description of the proposed energy credit measures, the basis for calculation of potential energy credits, and the demonstration cost effective packages that justify the energy credit requirements by building type and climate zone.
